At the last meeting of the Carolina Camera Club......

There were 9 members present for the February 21, 2012 meeting.

The prints that members brought to St Lukes Hospital for display were greatly appreciated by Jean Wright. Jean was coordinating the display of art not only with the Carolina Camera Club but with the Tryon Painters and Sculptors.

Positive comments were being made by passersby even as they were being hung on Monday. Reviews have been so good that we’ve been asked for more pictures so they can expand the display. Club members were encouraged to provide more of their fine work.

Jean had asked for a copy of the clubs mission statement so she could display it with the pictures. Going through the club archives, I could not find where it was written so I wrote one up. The below was accepted by the members as our mission statement.

The Carolina Camera Club was formed to provide an opportunity for members with a wide range of experience and interests to meet regularly to share, acquire, and develop photographic skills in a supportive and friendly environment where they can explore the potential of all aspects of photography.

Glenn Brady brought in a double Super 8 movie camera for display. Glenn has promised to do a presentation on motion imaging in the near future. Many of todays SLRs do an excellent job at this.

Chuck also mentioned the Picture Perfect event coming to the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden in Belmont, NC on March 17 and 18.  This two day affair for photographers will be attended by several camera manufacturer reps as well as other industry related agents. Professional photographer Chas Galtzer of Shoot The Light Instructional Photographic Workshops will speak both days. Check their web site at www.dsbg.org or the Info area on this web site for more information.

Last nights meeting of the Carolina camera club also had members show some of their prints for evaluation.

Future outings were announced. This Sunday, we will be visiting some old barns and sheds in the Upstate of South Carolina. Other future options will be the Oconee Bells in March as well as Pearsons Falls in April. Check our outings section on this website.
